Any airlines still allow traditional standby flights?

I know back in the day you could cruise up to the ticket counter & sneak onto a flight that was leaving that day but not full for next to nothing. Times have changed, but I was wondering if anyone knows about any airlines that still do this?

Answer :
Yep - flying standby is a thing of the past.

Airtran U is probably the closest thing but is limited to students and is not a last minute purchase option......

Answer :
I know in brisbane Jetstar still offers what some refer to as mystery flights but the cost are usually not much of a discount , much cheaper planning ahead as fares are generally at bargin prices when purchased in advance , If you want a surprise ask a close friend to randomly pick a place , put ticket in sealed envelope and you dont open it until you get to the airport to checkin.

Answer :
No, in fact you're likely to pay much more when you show up at the last minute to purchase a ticket these days.

What's Left To Do In New York?

Hey Everyone

My wife and I are both 24 and heading to New York for our two year wedding anniversary on april 10th for 5 nights! Just looking on some more tips for things for us to do. So far we are doing the following:

Knicks vs Miami Heat at MSG
Mary Poppins Show at The New Amsterdam
Circle Cruise round Manhattan
Central Park Carriage Ride
Empire State Building
Ellis Island
Rockafeller

But does anyone know some good places to eat, but reasonably affordable? I am also a big true crime buff, and I have read every american mafia book there is pretty much, and would love to do some sort of tour, but can't find any that exist besides the sopranos one, which doesn'ts interest me much. So any interesting mafia tours?

Also we would love to get tickets to some sort of tv studio show like Conan O'Brien show, where can I get tickets for that?

A raffle has a grand prize of a Alaskan cruise valued at $15000...?

A raffle has a grand prize of a Alaskan cruise valued at $15000 with a second prize of a Rocky Point vacation valued at $1300. If each ticket costs $2 and 8000 tickets are sold, what are the expected winnings far a ticket buyer?

Answer :
ticket money: 16000
prize money: 16300
difference: 300
difference per ticket: 0.3
so the expected winnings are 30 cents for a ticket buyer
(not very realistic to have expected winnings instead of expected loss ;-) )

What is the best cruise line site?

cruise tickets that are at a good price? im thinking of going on a cruise to mexico in august and im wondering what sites are really good for purchasing! thanks

Answer :
It depends on your needs. As a travel agent, I will say that booking with the owner of the agency is a good idea-many online sites hire "order takers" these folks are not travel agents. They may be at the job one day before they take your booking and may be gone the next. These jobs are paid a percentage of their orders and often are told they will see 6 figures in a short time--when reality hits-they "book" (pun intended) A travel agent that has been around will be there from start to finish. When you have questions you will want an answer quickly and you want the correct answer-not a guess or a maybe.
Book your travel with a reputable agency-you will be given excellent service and usually the same price as the discount online big boys.

Answer :
Well, I suggest http://vacationstogo.com/ for the best deals and the easiest way to compare cruise lines and prices on one page. They also have a toll-free number. I have booked many cruises with them as well as canceled cruises w/o a problem. Also give aaa.com a look to.

Hope I helped!

Answer :
for the best website by far, use www.vacationstogo.com they seem to have the easiest website to navigate with the most information.
