I got a speeding ticket for 97 in a 70 MPH zone...what now?

I was driving on interstate 16 towards Savannah,GA and I had just entered this small town called Bloomingdale. Me and two friends were just cruising along and I saw the officer in the median, he did a u-turn and I was confused I looked down at my speedometer and my heart dropped. I immediately got on the closest exit and pulled over. The cop was kind of a douche bag and instantly wrote the ticket then decided he would check my window tint, the tint was .2 shades over the legal limit so he wrote a nice ticket for that too. Any advice? I'm 18, male, and I drive a 2006 Dodge Magnum. I'm a full time worker and student. My GPA is 3.5, would any of this matter to a judge? I'm really nervous about my insurance going up....

Answer :
None of that matters. If you had pulled over right away when you knew you had been caught you likely would only have gotten a warning or a decreased amount speeding ticket. By your own admission you tried to avoid getting stopped. Then don't be surprised that the cop was hard on you for what you did. I haven't the slightest doubt you gave him some attitude as well. When will people learn that the cop knows what he is doing and is smarter in the law than you. Admit it, even apologize, say 'yes, sir' and 'no, sir' and all the other polite things and you MAY get off very lightly. You screwed up big-time so don't put the cop down because of your bad judgement. .

Answer :
The only thing that will matter to the judge,is you were driving way above the speed limit, obviously not paying attention to your driving, and you were driving with impaired vision-too dark windows.

Answer :
What now? Pay the fine, remove the tint and watch your speed in the future. Nothing here makes a good defense.

You work full time. Good, so do most of the traffic violators the judge sees in that court.

You are a student with a good GPA. How does that relate to your driving? Taking a driver's education course?

You can go to school to help with the insurance consequences, but the officer got you fair. You admit to speeding, time to deal with the offense.

Answer :
There are over 75,000 deaths in the United Sates every year as the result of motor vehicle accidents. Of that number, approx. 40% are caused by drivers between the ages of 16 and 25, and the great percentage are due to speeding and DUI. If you cannot talk and concentrate on your driving, they put a cruise control in your vehicle for a reason.
As a Police Officer, nothing makes me angrier than to witness an act of total negligence and carelessness when someone drives over the posted limit. The anger is partially due to the fact of the pure stupidity of it, and partly to the fact that I know the most I can do is issue a citation for it. What I would like to do is shred the driver's license of every person that does it and let them try walking everywhere they go. Isn't it funny how a 3.5 gpa can make you look smart, but your careless actions can reveal the truth. Intelligence does not necessarily indicate wisdom.

Answer :
Pay the fine and take the negative points on your license. If your insurance goes up it will be reminder to you to watch your speed. Of course you have the option of fighting the ticket in court but in these times of fiscal crises you probably won't get off. The small town needs its revenue too. Good luck to you

Answer :
I'm not following. You broke the law, you admit it, and somehow the cop is a douchebag.

Care to explain that one to us?
